The Brickton Weekly June 5, 2014

Volunteer Spotlight
Thank you to Marina and Matthias Althueser (Marek’s parents - Room 103) for sharing their rock and roll dance skills with the Middle School students.  The students had a wonderful time learning some great dance moves!
Fine Arts Night CD
Parents of children who participated in Fine Arts Night on May 8 (Children’s House 3rd years, Elementary and Middle School students) will find an “End-of-the Year” gift waiting in their mail folders.  Thanks to Brickton parent, Joe Somers, for providing CDs of the performance to all the families whose children participated.
Peace Picnic
The Peace Picnic was a fun and wonderful way to wrap up the school year.  Thanks to everyone who volunteered and came to the event.  We hope you enjoy the slideshow of pictures from the picnic below.
Middle School Does Shakespeare
The Middle School students put together a thrilling rendition of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Nice work, Middle School students!  Thank you to Katie for inspiring and directing the students!
Last Day of School – Today
Today is the last day of school.  Before you leave for the school year, make sure to take your child’s belongings home.  Please clean out parent folders, take your child’s extra clothing box, and check the lost and found for items your child might have left behind.  Have a wonderful summer!  For those of you attending camp, we’ll see you on Monday!
Summer Manna Orders
Dotty will be submitting Manna orders on June 16th, July 7th, and August 4th. You can email the order with a credit card number, or drop off a check.  You will be emailed when your order arrives.
Graduation and Promotion Ceremony - TONIGHT
Please join us for Brickton's graduation and promotion ceremony on Thursday, June 5th at 7:00 pm, in the Erin Room at the Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N Knox Ave, Chicago, IL 60630.  Those students in kindergarten, third grade, sixth grade and eighth grade will participate in the ceremony, honoring their promotion to a new program or graduation.  There is ample, free parking in the adjacent parking lot.  The Erin Room is located on the fourth floor and is easily accessible by stair or elevator.
Free Introductory Classes This Summer
This summer, we will be offering a FREE Introduction to Montessori for Toddler and Children's House age students.   This is a fantastic way to learn about Brickton's program and get a real feel for the school.  If you have a friend or neighbor that you think might be interested in attending, please be so kind to send them a note with THIS LINK, or direct them to our website where they will find class details and available dates, or have them call Molly at 773-714-0646.
Block Party and Planning Committee
Next year’s Back to School Block Party is September 12th.  If you would like to volunteer your time and join the planning committee for the black party, you can sign up on the bulletin board in the hallway at school.
