Thank You Corner
Thank you to our reading specialist, Liz
Skrodzki, for taking the time and effort to assemble reading packets for our
students to use during spring break.
Liz, you always work so hard to instill a passion for reading in our
students. Thank you for going the extra
mile!

Brickton Reads
Recently Brickton Reads referred to book
awards. One more is the Theodor (Dr.) Seuss Geisel Award. Chicagoan Josh Schneider won for Everybody
Sleeps (But Not Fred) which is about a rambunctious boy with a huge
imagination and a long to-do list.
Here is a literary to-do list for April-May:
- April 12- 18 is National Library Week. Observed since 1958, this week celebrates the nation’s libraries and librarians. Get personalized reading recommendations from your library staff. While you are there, sign up for a museum pass and get information on Summer Reading programs.
- Saturday May 2 is the nationwide Free Comic Book Day. Check with your library to see if you can drop in to pick up free comics while supplies last.
- May 4 – May 8 is Children’s Book Week. Libraries celebrate with programs, activities and other fun stuff.
Current titles Brickton readers are loving: The Jungle
Book (Kipling), Flora and Ulysses (DiCamillo),
and the Betty Bunny books(Kaplan).
